Nuance Communications Inc. said Tuesday it has acquired Commissure Inc., a medical imaging software company that provides speech-enabled radiology workflow optimization and data analysis solutions.

Burlington, Mass.-based (Nasdaq: NUAN), a supplier of speech and imaging solutions, said the merger will broaden Nuance's dictaphone [roducts solutions for the medical imaging industry and will extend the company's reach into the radiology market. Nuance also said the buy will accelerate revenue growth through software as a service offerings.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
